Advocacy
Advocacy is one of the five foundational pillars of P.O.W.E.R. Women’s Health Prevention Centre.
It is the thread that weaves together our efforts to improve women’s heart health by speaking up, challenging the status quo, and mobilizing communities. Advocacy means standing at the intersection of lived experience and evidence, and pushing for policies, practices, and research that reflect the realities of women from diverse backgrounds.
Through advocacy, we ensure that our science serves people, our programs center community voices, and our progress is measured by impact—not just intention. Whether in a clinical setting, a community centre, or a policymaker’s office, our advocacy aims to close the health equity gap and rewrite the narrative for women’s cardiovascular health in Canada.
We envision a Canada where cardiovascular care is equitable, inclusive, and informed by the lived realities of all women. Our advocacy platform amplifies community voices, fosters system-wide awareness, and strengthens bridges between science and society.
